Written By Winston Bensford on Monday, August 6, 2012 | 10:09 PM

The SBI associate banks clerk recruitment project 2012-13 has started with their online application going live on July 30.It is a dream for many to work with India`s largest public sector bank.Although the advertisement contains all the required info for anyone to decide on his/her eligibility most are still not able to come to a conclusion.

Like every year, this notification for SBI clerk jobs (see notice) is also welcomed by many bank job aspirants, more by those who could not get any interview chance with IBPS CWE scores.

To provide a better picture for applicants related to this SBI 7740 clerks recruitment we have compiled answers from the bank`s notification for some of your top doubts & questions.

Q: I turn 18 years only on August 3.Shall I apply for this sbi clerical recruitment?
A: No.The notice clearly mentions the cutoff date as 1.08.2012 & declares those born after 1.08.1994 not eligible.

But if you belong to any reserved category then max.age is relaxed - such as 3 yrs for obc & 5 yrs for sc/st)

What are the educational qualification that a person must have inorder to register?
Applicants must have completed 12th std. with atleast 60% marks (55% for SC/ST)
OR should have secured pass class in graduation.

I have 55% in 12th standard, 60% in my degree & belong to OBC.Am I eligible ?
Yes.Applicants from all categories need to have passed in degree. No minimum mark is required.

Should I reside in a state that I submit application for?
Not necessary.State Bank of India has not asked for domicile status & hence you are free to apply for clerk posts in any state even if you are not its resident.

What languages should I know?
Those registering for this sbi recruitment project should be able to read, write & speak english fluently.

During interview you may be asked few questions in local language to determine your familiarity.

My state has no or less no. of vacancies. Can I apply to other state?
Yes but remember the following points
you will have to appear for the clerical exam in the state you apply for.
knowledge of local language.Although not compulsory, it can fetch you extra marks in personal interview
If selected, you may have to work in a branch located in that state for first few years.

I don't know the local language of a state.Is that a problem?
It is not a problem but ‘may’ lower your chance of final selection.Since state bank considers it to be an added qualification, the person with language skills could be selected over someone who doesn't know it.

Can I apply for two banks if they have vacancies in a state?
No.You can submit your application for vacancy in any one bank & state only.

for example, In the state of Tamilnadu state bank of travancore (SBT) has 280 posts & State bank of Mysore offers 78.Individuals looking to work in TN can apply for any 1 of these 2 banks only.

I am waiting for final semester/year results. Is it possible for me to apply?
Although you cannot enter degree marks in application, it is possible to specify your std.12 marks (above 60% only) & submit the online application form.

By the time interview process starts you can provide degree/ provisional certificates.

I am currently in 3rd year of college. If appointed, can I join the bank after my course completion?
You will have to discuss about joining dates with the bank directly & if reporting is immediate, they might not entertain your request.

But if you are very much interested to work with State bank group, here is our suggestion,
Apply with your std.12 marks (must be above 60%)
If chosen after exam & interviews, discontinue regular college & opt for correspondence course while working at the same time.
So decide on whether to continue degree or work as clerk in SBI associate bank.

We hope new & first time registrants would be able to understand these conditions set by state bank of India & decide on their eligibility from this article.
